Family Home Protection Training for DOGS

Family Home Protection Dogs

When it comes to Protection Dogs, every family dog has the potential to be a Protection dog.

A dog’s breed is not the soul determining factor when it comes to personal protection. A dog’s Breed is usually referenced by trainers when looking for certain characteristics to be used in training. Some Breeds are specifically known for having these traits or characteristics, commonly known as Drive. When it comes to Protection training; Prey and Defense are two characteristics or Drives needed to do this type of training. Certain Breeds are known for having these Drives, more so than other breeds.

There is one trait or characteristic that is commonly underestimated or over looked by most trainers and it’s the most important, the Protective instinct.  The Protective instinct is a God giving natural instinct that every dog is blessed with. In the right environment and under the right circumstances this natural instinct can be appear, it can appear without any training what so ever. This instinct sparks and takes hold when the dog has a close bond to its family. Usually this dog lives inside the home with its family, watches TV with the family, sleeps in the kid’s room or on the couch. A dog in this environment will most likely have a very strong bond with its family and the Protective instinct very strong.

A dog that has this Protective instinct realized simply needs the training to show them what to do with it and how to use it. Similar to teaching someone a few self-defense moves.  The average family dog should never be under estimated; size means nothing but heart means everything. I advise all of my clients to keep their dog inside because you never know; the smallest dog can be the mightiest dog of all.

When it comes to the actual training itself; dogs are tested usually about 1 or 1 ½ years of age to determine if the dog will be able to undergo this type of training or used to give the trainer an idea as to how much training will be needed to achieve Basic Bite proficiency.  During the Test or Evaluation we are looking for two basic Drives, Prey Drive and Defense.  Some dogs will not test well the first time out and that is okay. A good trainer will recognize this; along with the natural Protective instinct in the dog based on the overall relationship they have with their owners.  Just because a dog tests poorly their first time out doesn’t mean they are done or washed out. I have successfully completed Protection training on dogs that other trainers have washed out because the trainer lacked the experience and The Know How.

Before a dog starts the actual Protection training the obedience training will need to be completed first. The owner will need to demonstrate that they have control of the dog. Once the obedience training is done, the Protection training can begin. I do not recommend you drop your dog off or leave your dog for this type of training to be done. I conduct training session for this type of training; training the dog and the owner at the same. This allows the owner to be involved in the training and more importantly the owner see’s first hand exactly what is being done to their dog.  It is important to note; just because a dog crawls and barks does not mean they will protect you and just because a dog chases a guy in padded suit does not mean they will protect you.

At my facility I train dogs in basic and advanced obedience as well as Protection; but I also Breed Belgian Malinois Dutch Shepherds for working and family home protection.  These are great family dogs; well socialized, tested and evaluated for stable temperament and working ability.  Every puppy is absolutely guaranteed and was bred specifically for family protection. Each new dog owners receives a New Dog Orientation class plus discounted future training.

German Shepherd Puppies for sale in Mississippi

Malinois Puppies

Hello, and Welcome to The International K9 Foundation.

I’m Jeff McCall, Master Trainer, Author and Owner of The International K9 Foundation.

With almost 20 years of dog training experience, training military working dogs overseas, law enforcement K9’s and helping thousands of everyday pet owners, I’ve enjoyed a rich and fulfilling time.

Over the last few years I’ve seen a disturbing increase in violent crime. Everyday home owners and families are desperately looking for way to level the playing field and protect themselves. As a result, I see more and more families Turing to the Belgain Malanios for Family home Protection.

The Malanios is my favorite breed, it’s my Go too, work horse when it comes to working dogs. The Malanios is fearless; they will stand their ground at all cost and will not hesitate to engage.  However, it’s not a dog that Just anyone can handle. These dogs are strong and can be temperamental.

That’s why I’ve established the Family Home Protection Breeding program here at The International K9 Foundation. My many years of experience has come to bare on the careful selection of just the right breed best suited for family home protection. The Malanios Dutch Shepherd.

My Malanios Dutch shepherds are a cross between a Belgain Malanios and a Dutch shepherd, each breed with an incredible and amazing history.  My Male Bores, a Belgain Malanios with a KNPV Pedigree with extensive training in obedience, narcotics and advanced bite work and apprehension.  Bores’s blood line is all but extinct; there are no more like him. My females are Dutch Shepherds; all but extinct during WWI and WWII due to their popularity as Military workings overseas. They are closely related to the Malanios, so they share similar characteristics.  The Dutch shepherd is very stable, easy to handle, loyal and extremely affectionate, which makes them the perfect match for the Malanios.

My females are imported from Holland with a KNPV pedigree, a KNPV Pedigree is very significant. KNPV stands for the Royal Dutch Police Dog Association. Founded in 1907; This organization conducts police dog trials and offers certificates, that are among the most coveted and respected in the world. This test demands a dog of great character, physical strength, agility and stamina. They are very heavy in protection work, involving distant attacks on a remote adversary, who strikes the dog with a stick before he actually bites and very realistic gun tests. The dog is required to take a man down off a bicycle, the desired procedure is for the dog to take a leg or to leap high and grab the man’s upper arm, avoiding entanglement in the wheels. There is a search for dropped objects (typically 2 or 3 coins) rather than the tracking common in this country. Over all, the KNPV trial demands very hard, tough dogs. You will find both Malanios and Dutch shepherds dominating this arena.

In these dangerous times, I believe this will give home owners and families a dog they can enjoy, a dog they can handle and a dog that can protect them.

My Puppies go through a very strict veterinarian exam, deworming and vaccination protocol. My puppies are also chipped. Applicants will go through a vigorous screening for potential paring with one of my puppies. All puppies come with a Health Guaranteed, free of genetic health disorders for up to one year.

The process begins with initial contact either by phone or email, after that, a Priority waiting list form will be emailed to you.  The form must be completed and returned, indicating a Male or Female puppy, along with a 100.00 dollars none refundable Listing Fee. Payments can be wired vie bank to bank, western union or mailed with a certified check.

Once the puppies are born I’ll go down the list in the order in which they were received, contacting awaiting parents. Within 24 hours of contact, you have to decide if you still want a puppy. If so, a Buyers contract and Deposit agreement will be emailed out. 24 hours from the time the Buyers contract and Deposit agreement is emailed out, the form must be completed and returned along with a Deposit of 650.00 dollars. Once I’ve evaluated each puppy and the veterinarian protocol is completed, I’ll contact each new puppy owner to make arrangements for finale payment, pick up and orientation.

New puppy owners receive orientation, along with 24/7 support providing guidance, instruction and answering all of your questions. It’s my goal to maintain a close relationship with my clients, making sure you and your puppy enjoy a long happy life together.
